There are most likely many ways to do this, but this is how I was taught.<br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I previously posted a recipe for <a href="http://www.pixpanache.com/2013/10/homemade-laundry-detergent.html" target="_blank">Homemade Laundry Detergent</a>, which I absolutely love! I will never go back to using regular store bought detergent again. It's been 5 months now and I still have detergent left. But onto this post...another homemade detergent. I've noticed my glasses getting cloudy after washing for a while in the dishwasher. I use the Jet Dry in the rinse dispenser, but it still doesn't get my glasses sparkling clean. So after researching the internet, I came across this recipe for making dishwasher detergent.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Ingredients:</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">2 Parts Borax</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">2 Parts Washing Soda</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">1 Part Citric Acid (2 Parts if you have hard water)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">1 Part Kosher Salt</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">White Vinegar as a rinse aid (optional) </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Directions:</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Mix all together in a bowl. I have very hard so I used 2 parts of the citric acid. <a href="http://www.walmart.com/ip/Lemi-Shine-Super-Concentrated-Dishwasher-Detergent-Additive-12-oz/15724190" target="_blank">Walmart</a> carries Lemi Shine, which is found in the liquid soap aisle. If you can't find it, use 2 packets of Kool-Aid unsweetened Lemonade. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Pour into your favorite container and add either a silicon packet or some rice tied in cheesecloth so it will absorb the moisture. If you do not do this, the powder will harden and make it difficult to get out. I labeled my jar with the <a href="http://www.staples.com/Martha-Stewart-Home-Office-with-Avery-Chalkboard-Labels-Flourish-2-1-2/product_366165?cid=PS:GooglePLAs:366165&srccode=cii_17588969&cpncode=35-165297894-2" target="_blank">Martha Stewart chalkboard labels</a>, but you can use anything you would like.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Use:</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Add 1 Tbs to the detergent chamber of your dishwasher. To use the vinegar as a rinse aid, pour a Tbs or two into a measuring bowl or custard dish on the top rack. Do not put it in the rinse aid dispenser as it will ruin the rubber gasket.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">FREEBIE!!!!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">As a bonus, I have created a label to use on the jar and some tags if you would like to gift some of the detergent to friends and family. To save the files click on them once and then right click to save. Enjoy :)</span><br />

Our elves, Buddy and Sneaky have returned for another season of zany adventures! We woke up this morning to find the following scene:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhl9cOSNVUWP060uEfu6jO2DYxzXPK4b2mr38EfRz_O4Ml6UQiQSguRzyBU68N9LmiUEG0G-c6xXijLUmwT4sLNxkl5UyNRF5ZZ2q2DLHdfazs6WAjU_i6rMm3xgStbOidneM_AJj6AfC8/s400/Elves-2.jpg" width="400" /></div>
<br />
Hmmm, I hope they remember to put the chips back when they are done!<br />

Every October, I host a witch party at my house for the girls I grew up with. It's just a fun way to get together for a girls night. The only requirement is to wear a witch hat…it actually looks pretty funny from outside, seeing a bunch of pointy hats through the window :)</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Here is how I decorated the table this year:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXUCFae6Q-d8E2Tl4QZUb_Oezn8TbJbOVo_G4pxmHcUgTlS-bbijfhCxmqZQQqDVT1kOJwx4oG9BiDsLegnlgw97WQut6IImTmlF7CUaAhMg_o_PyXV-Z7AtAUIZPzlF93aRdmzWQfgnA/s1600/Witch_Party-7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXUCFae6Q-d8E2Tl4QZUb_Oezn8TbJbOVo_G4pxmHcUgTlS-bbijfhCxmqZQQqDVT1kOJwx4oG9BiDsLegnlgw97WQut6IImTmlF7CUaAhMg_o_PyXV-Z7AtAUIZPzlF93aRdmzWQfgnA/s400/Witch_Party-7.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: start;">The chair sashes were from </span><a href="http://www.shindigz.com/party/citrus-green-satin-chair-sashes/pgp/10pchrscscgr" style="text-align: start;" target="_blank">Shindigz</a><span style="text-align: start;">; they come in a set of 10. The web tablecloth is just a piece of sheer fabric I bought from </span><a href="http://www.joann.com/" target="_blank">JoAnn's</a><span style="text-align: start;"> in their Halloween section and it is just draped over a plain black tablecloth that I got along with the matching napkins at </span><a href="http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/" style="text-align: start;" target="_blank">Bed Bath and Beyond</a><span style="text-align: start;">.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: start;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgweIYiSqwTkLspXVoxSnxeq8lNvsqhXv0ClRxKtZK4A9d8-MHi5LDOUhwhN-6boU-Av42tITpsaGCTbFOJYHwITPgCCt83xrDcoUwOXhyYU2zNRdhtkcP0KuJHVIpCIOW_nwEV1rVQo_4/s1600/Witch_Party-4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgweIYiSqwTkLspXVoxSnxeq8lNvsqhXv0ClRxKtZK4A9d8-MHi5LDOUhwhN-6boU-Av42tITpsaGCTbFOJYHwITPgCCt83xrDcoUwOXhyYU2zNRdhtkcP0KuJHVIpCIOW_nwEV1rVQo_4/s400/Witch_Party-4.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
The centerpiece I picked up at <a href="http://www.pier1.com/" target="_blank">Pier 1 Imports</a> (my favorite store) and I placed some purple glitter balls around it for extra sparkle. The candleholders were from <a href="http://michaels.com/" target="_blank">Michael's</a> arts and craft store.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_MlEx6J0B26CYEC5_nWNDXhDcN6jwX52MbXqDCPHXibz0N1dmj2mbXIATVnumQixKtkQt1652FOpIgCt7lpgDVdDWmBq6oaccxW4z0sJcsbV7AI_9bGlMNQUGY5zH9Up5SSlrJAmYP8Q/s1600/Witch_Party-5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_MlEx6J0B26CYEC5_nWNDXhDcN6jwX52MbXqDCPHXibz0N1dmj2mbXIATVnumQixKtkQt1652FOpIgCt7lpgDVdDWmBq6oaccxW4z0sJcsbV7AI_9bGlMNQUGY5zH9Up5SSlrJAmYP8Q/s640/Witch_Party-5.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
The glasses are my absolute favorite! The are The Season of the Witch Goblets from <a href="http://www.kirksfolly.com/" target="_blank">Kirk's Folly</a>. I do not think they are available anymore, but they do have other goblets. They are nice and heavy and so much detail on the base. The pictures do not do them justice. Inside each glass I placed a <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Litecubes-Brand-Light-Pumpkin-Lantern/dp/B00EZIAH0G/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1385086256&sr=8-2&keywords=flashing+pumpkins+drink" target="_blank">flashing pumpkin</a> drink light available at <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Litecubes-Brand-Light-Pumpkin-Lantern/dp/B00EZIAH0G/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1385086256&sr=8-2&keywords=flashing+pumpkins+drink" target="_blank">Amazon</a>.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
The plates I got a couple years ago at <a href="http://www.homegoods.com/" target="_blank">Home Goods</a>. I am always on the lookout for these but I have yet to come across them. The napkin rings are really purple beaded bracelets that I wrapped around the napkins like you would a ponytail. I got them, as well as the witch hat place card holders and the chargers, at <a href="http://michaels.com/" target="_blank">Michael's</a>. The spider web placemat I picked up for a steal at <a href="http://www.biglots.com/" target="_blank">Big Lots</a>.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhUKCfKS-0e5_tk2DgvekuGnwbkUjPRpONrN_Uf6w7GNCafuoz9QMWT5yTXelWsSnOS3HYpnGuwYO-HL5QvmX58wOBmaltd61E1Jb5qMdqFeU-u72mMd1I5O0_JbeqfY1h2i5puDs0PI0/s1600/Witch_Party-6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhUKCfKS-0e5_tk2DgvekuGnwbkUjPRpONrN_Uf6w7GNCafuoz9QMWT5yTXelWsSnOS3HYpnGuwYO-HL5QvmX58wOBmaltd61E1Jb5qMdqFeU-u72mMd1I5O0_JbeqfY1h2i5puDs0PI0/s640/Witch_Party-6.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
To finish off the bottom of the table, I decorated the legs of table as witch feet. It's really just a pair of knee high socks and a child's size shoe covers found at <a href="http://www.partyfair.com/" target="_blank">Party Fair</a>. I'm sure any Halloween store would stock these.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZiM3fVAnZBuNz-bFCX4NB59-RjHr658Fx1-U2PdrTv5SxkVvoSOmwSpgA9v6DXLwxUpiT57O9ZxiZ44HlQrfq7QYMTirkyQiAci7UAeDZnxd6KE9f4Ty_ST0fgodgiUt04aPPdWCeZtc/s1600/Witch_Party-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZiM3fVAnZBuNz-bFCX4NB59-RjHr658Fx1-U2PdrTv5SxkVvoSOmwSpgA9v6DXLwxUpiT57O9ZxiZ44HlQrfq7QYMTirkyQiAci7UAeDZnxd6KE9f4Ty_ST0fgodgiUt04aPPdWCeZtc/s640/Witch_Party-1.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">

And the witch party wouldn't be complete without some wands. I made these for the girls out of wood dowels, irridecent glass beads (that you use in the bottom of a vase), hot glue and paint. I used this <a href="http://izismile.com/2012/12/24/how_to_make_harry_potter_style_wands_12_pics.html" target="_blank">tutorial</a> as a starting point for the wands. Instead of painting the entire wand one color, I painted the hot glue designs in a different color, then did a wash (black paint mixed with water painted over the entire wand and then wiped off with a paper towel) and painted coordinating glitter paint on the designs. I sealed the whole thing with acrylic spray.<br />

We had a lot of laughs the entire night and we can't wait for next year's Sisterhood of the Traveling Broomstick. If you've never hosted a witch party, I suggest you do so! It really is a lot of fun :)</div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Recently while I was <strike>totally procrastinating</strike> doing some research on <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/suzyq_/boards/" target="_blank">Pinterest</a>, I came across a pin for DIY laundry detergent. At first I was a little skeptical, especially seeing real life attempts at some pins such as <a href="http://www.pinterestfail.com/" target="_blank">here</a>. But the more I researched, the more I thought of giving it a go. After all, I go through so much detergent at home and this is supposed to last a year (which I personally think is a bit stretched). It costs just under $30.00 for all the ingredients. I found everything in Wal-Mart in the laundry isle. I also bought two glass jars for my laundry room, one scented and the other unscented. The cost was $9.00 each, one large one was $17.00. So here is the step by step of how to make the batch. </span></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Ingredients:</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; color: #3e3e3e; line-height: 21px;">One box of Borax (just over 4 pounds)</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; color: #3e3e3e; line-height: 21px;">Three bars of Fels-Naptha, Zote, or Ivory soap. </span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; color: #3e3e3e; line-height: 21px;">One 4 pound box of Arm & Hammer Baking</span><span style="background-color: white; color: #3e3e3e; line-height: 21px;"> Soda.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; color: #3e3e3e; line-height: 21px;">One box of Arm & Hammer Super Washing.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; color: #3e3e3e; line-height: 21px;">4 pounds of Oxy Clean (I bought the large one since it was cheaper but didn't use it all)</span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #3e3e3e; line-height: 21px;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Laundry Scent Crystals in your favorite scent.</span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #3e3e3e; line-height: 21px;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #3e3e3e; line-height: 21px;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Instructions:</span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #3e3e3e; line-height: 21px;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Cube the soap into small cubes and divide in half.</span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #3e3e3e; line-height: 21px;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></span>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="background-color: white; color: #3e3e3e; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 21px; text-align: -webkit-auto;">Take half of the soap and put in a food processor. Some recipes call for grating the soap, but I've read that sometimes it will </span><span style="color: #3e3e3e; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 21px;">leave some in the washer if the flakes are too big. So I have an old Ultimate Chopper that worked perfectly for this. Note: add some of the powder to the food processor before grating. This is make sure the soap grinds into a fine powder. Otherwise, the soap will be too moist and start to clump. We don't want clumps. Clumps are bad.</span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #3e3e3e; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 21px;"><br /></span></span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #3e3e3e; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 21px;">Pulse the processor a few times and then run on high until all the soap is ground. It should look like the picture below.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #3e3e3e; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 21px;"><br /></span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #3e3e3e; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 21px;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #3e3e3e; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 21px;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #3e3e3e; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 21px;">Next, take all ingredients outside to mix in a large bucket. I used one of those party buckets that I use for <strike>beer</strike> soda and ice. The reason you want to do this outside is because when you dump all the powder and mix it together, it tends to fly around. Nothing like choking on soap powder. Put all ingredients except the scented crystals into the bucket and mix together. I used an old piece of molding, but a large paint stick from Home Depot or Lowes would work great.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #3e3e3e; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 21px;"><br /></span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #3e3e3e; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 21px;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #3e3e3e; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 21px;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #3e3e3e; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 21px;">Now here I took approximately half of the mixture and filled one of the glass jars. I love those scented crystals from Downey, Purex, and <a href="http://scent-sational4u.scentsy.us/" target="_blank">Scentsy</a> (Scentsy is only bought online, so I linked to where I got it from). I wanted half the soap batch unscented so if I wanted to add a different scent, I could.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #3e3e3e; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 21px;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: #3e3e3e; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 21px;">Next, I added the scented crystals to the mix and then filled the other glass jar. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #3e3e3e; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 21px;"><br /></span></div>

<span style="color: #3e3e3e; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 21px;">I have an he machine and I add the soap directly to the drum. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">

I got a surprise this morning when I went to my homepage on <a href="http://www.flickr.com/" target="_blank">Flickr</a>. Whoa! It has a whole new look! Now, I haven't had time to play around extensively, but I have to say I like what I see. It has a fresh, clean appearance. With anything new, it takes a while to get adjusted, but I think it was about time for an update. Apparently, I am in the minority based on the <a href="http://www.flickr.com/help/forum/en-us/72157633547442506/" target="_blank">feedback</a> they have been receiving.</div>
<br />
Here is what the new homepage looks like:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjM1nOvz5HnLYoKROifgTeaEj7zVidabsx_I11BAdhNiZO8tZ_2r5lyn-hAAbZnRdSIsUfHuu80JtjRWVsIAyk03KVXh0Rdau4qbsLVwYjNa2F-CYBms2wFPRonv63nOwFKfghrNBkEUeY/s1600/New+Flickr.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjM1nOvz5HnLYoKROifgTeaEj7zVidabsx_I11BAdhNiZO8tZ_2r5lyn-hAAbZnRdSIsUfHuu80JtjRWVsIAyk03KVXh0Rdau4qbsLVwYjNa2F-CYBms2wFPRonv63nOwFKfghrNBkEUeY/s1600/New+Flickr.jpg" height="247" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
One of the complaints I've read is you can't get to your profile preferences. Do you really think <a href="http://www.flickr.com/" target="_blank">Flickr</a> would not allow you to access your profile information anymore? If you hover your mouse on the three dots to the right of your screen, a drop down menu will appear. There is an option for Profile. Click it and it will bring up the profile screen (which looks like the old screen). I have circled in red below:</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEju1DAfUahDFqLqRctsfqG8YQSKI3Mn6eAkB2KJsjYTqouWAUYYv1rgCksfeSsbLhdszyYYX8GH78Hgj-fQbMXW6VqiQ22-d7OoHoq7qUWqDqGBdWrr0F8YntR6KVaAT8VsjKxIdaW3nCw/s1600/profile+options.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEju1DAfUahDFqLqRctsfqG8YQSKI3Mn6eAkB2KJsjYTqouWAUYYv1rgCksfeSsbLhdszyYYX8GH78Hgj-fQbMXW6VqiQ22-d7OoHoq7qUWqDqGBdWrr0F8YntR6KVaAT8VsjKxIdaW3nCw/s1600/profile+options.jpg" height="250" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Also noted above is the option to change your cover photo. If you move your mouse anywhere on the cover photo, an option to Edit Your Photo will appear. Click on it and follow the prompt to change your picture.</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Another complaint is you can't see your activity anymore. Well you can. Hover your mouse on YOU on the top of the menu bar. A drop down menu will appear. Click on Recent Activity as I have highlighted in red below:</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiz8TS85Fd5WdW202YpMIiuhiXXirqBSr8LzMsgD3eF41mi85v8JkyrS9AV5KjZv4u08esyQjJy2IQLJla6QS3ZeveksncLXH1WZaGNiu4N9oUe4VMsPybJ8frmwI4oKlwuWj3WnojorUg/s1600/your+options.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiz8TS85Fd5WdW202YpMIiuhiXXirqBSr8LzMsgD3eF41mi85v8JkyrS9AV5KjZv4u08esyQjJy2IQLJla6QS3ZeveksncLXH1WZaGNiu4N9oUe4VMsPybJ8frmwI4oKlwuWj3WnojorUg/s1600/your+options.jpg" height="247" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
Now does this look familiar?<br />
<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
One more thing people have been having trouble with, is finding how to add a photo to a group. Click on the photo you would like to share. It brings it up in a black screen (personally, I like the look of the photos on black). Click on the 3 dots at the bottom right of the screen. Note: hover will not work, you need to click it. Now it brings up the options for the picture. Notice I've circled Add to a Group in red:</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoLc7eIr0LzCPZJHBiBcioD2XO2XrIjUpUziDDCPAt0wIDqCkN6X9q3VDYTWMdXl3m7qbZBZ6WiZqYr-BNskgRdPhwWevjfvK2-Kysvxa88IMH0j0pSjGX0GHKcQT-NshcVDvWXHUVku0/s1600/picture+options.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoLc7eIr0LzCPZJHBiBcioD2XO2XrIjUpUziDDCPAt0wIDqCkN6X9q3VDYTWMdXl3m7qbZBZ6WiZqYr-BNskgRdPhwWevjfvK2-Kysvxa88IMH0j0pSjGX0GHKcQT-NshcVDvWXHUVku0/s1600/picture+options.jpg" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So before you go on a rant about what you can and cannot do, explore the new site and try to get a feel for it. Then offer some valid points about what you like and what you don't. Having said that, I would like to see an option to customize my screen. Not everyone likes to see the big pictures. Some prefer smaller thumbnails. Changing the backgrounds from black to white would be nice for some. I would also like to see number of views and favorites on the pictures in my photostream. Currently when you hover on a picture, you can only see number of comments. To see the rest, you need to click on each picture to open it. <br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Change is always inevitable, especially with all the social media sites. Sometimes we like those changes, sometimes we don't. But remember, you always have a choice. If you don't like something, you don't have to participate. </div>

Recently I traveled to Washington DC to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Girl Scouts. One of the stops on our trip was to Mount Vernon in Alexandria, VA. Situated along the Potomac River, Mount Vernon is just 16 miles south of Washington, D.C., and was the home of George and Martha Washington. We had walked down to the wharf to catch a boat tour along the Potomac. While waiting, we had the opportunity to see some nesting Osprey. Ospreys are fish-eating birds of prey that can reach up to 24 inches in height and have a wing span of up to 71 inches. They are sometimes referred to as Sea Hawks or Fish Eagles. The birds we saw had made their nest on the pylons along the pier. I was able to snap this picture as one was returning to the nest with food for the little ones.

If you happened to look up in the sky this past week, you may have noticed two bright "stars" in the West after sunset. Actually, you are seeing Venus and Jupiter in a close encounter with one another. They are about 3 degrees apart on March 12 and 13, 2012. Last night I ventured outside with my camera mounted on my tripod and began snapping away. Unfortunately, they are right in line with the flight path and I got a few pictures that reflect that. But somehow, they add a little character as you can see by the picture on the right. <br />
<br />
So go on outside tonight and look up to see this beautiful sight. And then turn around and look towards the East to see Mars chasing after them.<br />

I know I haven't posted in a while, but I joined Ellenburg Photography's Project 52 over on <a href="http://www.flickr.com/groups/ellenburgphotography-project52/">Flickr</a>. This week's theme was Flower Power. While the flowers are not yet blooming here, I had to go to the local grocery store and look for inspiration. I found a bouquet of Gerber Daises, which I love.<br />

I was down in Wildwood Crest when I snapped this shot at the Cape May Lighthouse in Cape May, NJ. The theme for this week was Connections. For years, lighthouses were a sailor's connection to land and their beacon guided them safely home. Well a little more than half into our vacation Hurricane Irene decided to come up the coast and was expected to make landfall in Cape May. The entire area was ordered to evacuate. So we cut our vacation short and packed up and went home. Luckily we did not suffer any water damage but many surrounded areas were devastated by flooding.PixPanachehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06352659946661432609noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4047997017131928788.post-26161420191576425402011-09-28T14:33:00.000-07:002011-09-28T14:33:53.306-07:00MCP Project 52 Week 33<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></imageanchor="1"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOuCj1y7ywUATyywNouf-vCnPDoE6YNmXHQRJ2bgrMQQ6iKNiN2Df1gtptZDgxWgpzOZmlcCSzlV8XU3rCQeA5-1BRhdQFePwESzgvXgV9Y_hGNQkV-DzN9Gg0vgsAtlAdH6y8B0fM7Tc/s400/Week+33+-+Slow+Down+and+Look+Back.jpg" width="285" /></imageanchor="1"></div>How many times do you feel life is just speeding by? As you can guess from the picture, my favorite time is movie time with the family. Friday nights are usually when I make a tray of finger foods and popcorn, of course. Why is it better at home than in the theater? Well, my food is better. The seating is more comfortable. And let's not forget the number one reason - pause and rewind. This last feature comes in handy with the kids.PixPanachehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06352659946661432609noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4047997017131928788.post-8882403600015663522011-08-08T06:01:00.000-07:002011-08-08T06:03:50.129-07:00Featured in Ellenburg PhotographyI'd like to extend a big thanks to Daphne of <a href="http://www.ellenburgphotography.com/">Ellenburg Photography</a> for featuring my Star Trails photo from MCP's week 31 photo challenge in her <a href="http://ellenburgphotography.blogspot.com/2011/08/week-31-our-favorites.html">blog</a> this week. I really didn't think I'd be able to do my experiment because every night was too cloudy or rainy. This was my first attempt at star trails and you need a perfectly clear night to accomplish it. Luckily, last night turned out to be a perfect, clear night. I set up my camera in the backyard on a tripod and pointed it towards North. All the stars revolve around the North Star so this is the best for getting that circle effect. Unfortunately, the North Star is covered by trees so I adjusted a little but still added some trees in the foreground. Next I set my white balance to Tungston to make the sky more blue. I fired off some test shots for exposure until I was satisfied with the result. Now, some sites I found said to do one long exposure, and that might be fine if you live in a dark area, but there is way too much light pollution where I live. So I set the shutter speed to 30 seconds, attached my time lapse remote, and put the camera in burst mode. I locked down the remote and walked away for a little over an hour. I ended up with 166 exposures, which I ran through a little program I found, <a href="http://www.startrails.de/html/software.html">Star Trails</a>, which combined all the images into one. The above is the final result. <br />
<br />
A couple things, the other streaks you see are airplanes. It would have taken far too long to remove them in Photoshop and I really don't mind them. Second, there was a very slight lag in between shots which showed up as breaks in the star trails. This is more apparent in the full size image. Apparently, on the programmable remote you can control this, but mine is just the basic remote. It's amazing that the stars are moving so fast that only a lapse of about a second would pick that up. Overall I am happy with the result and I think it turned out to be a good first attempt.PixPanachehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06352659946661432609noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4047997017131928788.post-15833450322882752322011-08-05T11:48:00.000-07:002011-08-05T11:48:10.650-07:00MCP Project 52 Week 30<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj09TFGcGEUOvwX4Tcs8wE-d5l0GSh2_Mom6HX3PvkiU2l_JONbnNWSKbZFB0AqaulAe0jLqDex7jXnup2dKp41LkiYG3rzijXXlOfHRIjIs2xnXvAEsTtwMypTn9bT1zEqn6va5d2ZCgc/s320/Week+30+-+A+Letter+of+the+Alphabet.jpg" width="213" /></imageanchor></div>Who doesn't like M&M's? I have some real beautiful shots from the lake, that maybe I'll share in a future post.</div>PixPanachehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06352659946661432609noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4047997017131928788.post-31279951731796720412011-07-14T10:00:00.000-07:002011-07-14T10:01:44.111-07:00MCP Project 52 Week 26<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-eDS4yAaMk4CqnwZECwAqK5akh-RnqV6lIoo69fEXgHhjThQngTLPJ7GB4INAw3MyYrLm7YiV-gvGkClDweBdr0mgnw9mmTSn2vEcb62mO-UP4jDrpoepUyjc2jAohDhu1ldIFj9t5kw/s400/Week+26+Hidden+Objects.jpg" width="400" /></imageanchor></div>This week's theme was Hidden Objects. I was still thinking about what to do for this theme and it hit me one day as I was stopped at a red light. I happened to look to my left and there I saw in the clouds a smiley face. I almost looks as if it's winking. I quick pulled out by point and shoot (which is always in my purse) and quick snapped this picture before the people behind me started honking to go already. I remember as a kid lying back and trying to find shapes in the clouds. I still do this today with my own kids.PixPanachehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06352659946661432609noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4047997017131928788.post-41621556654257880532011-07-06T14:50:00.000-07:002011-07-14T10:01:54.174-07:00MCP Project 52 Week 25<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiedSRixeWOSiw64SMwK3-3pyNrsfkL5JCdI85ui8aHwAIC_iaP2pV1lM1lBEB1WpvmzzipnTSa8i2XVmiexskGwibpyWa-H1XT_GKFlduWXYl_0DYz7Kup2fBFI-NN4AxHEE55cJ9b5_k/s400/Week+25+Crave.jpg" width="266" /></imageanchor></div>What to you Crave? For me this week came easy. With work being so busy and then still having a house and family to take care of, I just want a little "me" time. Yup, that's right. I want to lounge in the hammock and just read a good book. No sound except that of the birds chirping and an occasional bark of a dog in the distance. It would be even better if that hammock was strung up between two palms trees on some quiet Caribbean island and a waiter was serving me drinks in a pineapple with a little colored umbrella sticking out of it. But hey, I would settle for my own backyard!PixPanachehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06352659946661432609noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4047997017131928788.post-53834138106577260322011-07-06T14:42:00.000-07:002011-07-06T14:42:35.010-07:00MCP Project 52 Week 24<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></imageanchor="1"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></imageanchor="1"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></imageanchor="1"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="267" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDI3A2hPy9VXNb-vfgLWsIWgX_dbJVKnaby1IVxsYRnyt-gStzNcC7y3Kt0JP21pmhgwy21zNA1_LqiqRrFVtbZRHgnDR3lr4gMlKY1V12s_lPzms2M6C4qIpLKYS1zYs4DZC8Tzsu9PM/s400/Week+24+Make+it+tasty.jpg" width="400" /></imageanchor="1"></div>This week's theme Make it Tasty couldn't have come at a better time. I was shooting some food for my in-law's restaurant so I used one of those shots for this week. The best thing about doing the photo shoot was getting to eat all the food after we were done. The above was eggplant over spaghetti with a homemade sauce - just so yummy. One of my other favorites was a mushroom rigatoni that was to die for. I told the chef I had to re-shoot that one, just to get another plate, but he was on to me.PixPanachehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06352659946661432609noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4047997017131928788.post-40488801531271381382011-07-06T14:34:00.000-07:002011-07-06T14:36:13.905-07:00MCP Project 52 Week 23<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitZ_Y6t6-JVKC9RBE0fnU1vF1lD81pvayJ0eI3FWy-Gg9WyCLHCH8j5JNG8PshgeE0rEdM8uZWFXmPC0rpGxiVJCROAL1-ruFVlXLftBwKtX2QoLGUUgQO5n72Dvf92Y_R9LI7EzdOdas/s400/Week+23+Enchantment.jpg" width="400" /></imageanchor> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Enchantment was the theme for week 23. I love fairies so I knew I would set up something with them. I have a fairy door in my rock wall along my house but for this shot I moved it over to my oak tree to make the shot more interesting. I did a slight <a href="http://pcin.net/update/2006/11/01/the-orton-effect-digital-photography-tip-of-the-week/">Orton</a> effect and then added some lens flare to create the look of fairies. I also used MCP's Grass is Greener action from the <a href="http://www.mcpactions.com/bagoftricks.html">Bag of Tricks</a>.</div>PixPanachehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06352659946661432609noreply@blogger.com0
