Venus & Jupiter Conjunction

If you happened to look up in the sky this past week, you may have noticed two bright "stars" in the West after sunset. Actually, you are seeing Venus and Jupiter in a close encounter with one another. They are about 3 degrees apart on March 12 and 13, 2012. Last night I ventured outside with my camera mounted on my tripod and began snapping away. Unfortunately, they are right in line with the flight path and I got a few pictures that reflect that. But somehow, they add a little character as you can see by the picture on the right.

So go on outside tonight and look up to see this beautiful sight. And then turn around and look towards the East to see Mars chasing after them.

Featured Photo

I'd like to say thank you to Daphne of Ellenburg Photography for once again featuring one of my photos in her blog this week. This week, my Gerber Daisy photo was featured in the top 10 for this week's theme, Flower Power. Please take a moment to check it out. If you see any other photos you like and you have a Flickr account, please click on the photo and leave them a comment. Everyone loves a little feedback :)

Flower Power

I know I haven't posted in a while, but I joined Ellenburg Photography's Project 52 over on Flickr. This week's theme was Flower Power. While the flowers are not yet blooming here, I had to go to the local grocery store and look for inspiration. I found a bouquet of Gerber Daises, which I love.

MCP Project 52 Week 34

This week was supposed to be my vacation week. I was down in Wildwood Crest when I snapped this shot at the Cape May Lighthouse in Cape May, NJ. The theme for this week was Connections. For years, lighthouses were a sailor's connection to land and their beacon guided them safely home. Well a little more than half into our vacation Hurricane Irene decided to come up the coast and was expected to make landfall in Cape May. The entire area was ordered to evacuate. So we cut our vacation short and packed up and went home. Luckily we did not suffer any water damage but many surrounded areas were devastated by flooding.

MCP Project 52 Week 33

How many times do you feel life is just speeding by?  Well, this week's theme is Slow Down and Look Back.  Do you remember when you were a kid and it seemed you had all the time in the world?  No worries, just living carefree.  Sometimes we need to do just that.  Slow down and enjoy life.  Otherwise it might just pass you by.

MCP Project 52 Week 32

Week 32 brings us to our Favorite Time of Day.  As you can guess from the picture, my favorite time is movie time with the family.  Friday nights are usually when I make a tray of finger foods and popcorn, of course.  Why is it better at home than in the theater?  Well, my food is better.  The seating is more comfortable.  And let's not forget the number one reason - pause and rewind.  This last feature comes in handy with the kids.
